01. The Wrath of the Dragon | Chapter 01: We Are At War
Deep inside our hearts, something tells us that suffering is unnatural. Yet we see it every day; children cry, people die, wars, disease, famines, hunger and poverty. I have experienced quite a lot of tear-filled situations and my gut tells me that the human race was not meant to suffer and die.
What is the origin of all this? Who did it originate with? To answer these two questions is the purpose of this book.
The Bible is the most authentic source of truthful information on earth. We will therefore look through its pages to find our answers.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. All the textbooks of the world combined cannot rival absolute truths enshrined within the pages of the Bible.
There are only two forces at play in life’s plane of existence: the forces of Good and Evil. Paul warned the Ephesians to put on the whole armor of God... for they wrestled not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:11-12.
Much has been said about the supernatural world existing beyond the veil of human sight. God our Creator says, “Call unto me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things which you have not known.” Jeremiah 33:3. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him, and he will show them His covenant. Psalms 25:14.
Bible verses like John 3:16, John 1:12 and many others assure the Christian of our stand with Jesus Christ and His Father, but there is an enemy who would do everything in his power to stop us from going to Heaven. Peter warns us, “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8.
The apostle John wrote a fair amount of information about the devil in the book of Revelation. A text which will be used frequently in this book is Revelation 12:9 which says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out and his angels were cast out with him.”
The Bible has warned:
- Be Sober: meaning that we should be awake, to keep our senses ever watchful.
- Be Vigilant: meaning that we should discover and avoid danger and to provide for safety.
The real motive of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy. We must educate people through the truths of the Bible about the enemy we face. The world must know him. Christian churches today do not have enough knowledge about the nature of the devil's work. Satan has taken advantage of this weakness, sending a great multitude of Christians to their doom.
His power lies in stealth and deception. The less we know about him, the easier it is for him to destroy us. The Christian religion is not for the spiritually blind but is one of knowledge. We can be zealous of religious activities, but without knowledge, we place ourselves at risk. Paul marks this fact by saying, "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge." Romans 10:2
Adam and Eve had no idea what they were getting themselves into when they chose to take the Devil's deal. One wrong choice led to the downfall of the whole human race. A true Christian must know the enemy he faces.
There is a war raging
A war between good and evil
A war between light and darkness
A war between life and death
A war between Jesus and Satan
A war where you will have to choose whose side you're on
A war you have to take part in, whether you like it or not
Choose good
Choose light
Choose life
Choose Jesus
Fight and defend
No matter how mighty the enemy is
No matter how badly he has destroyed the human race
No matter what
There is nothing greater than the assurance that you're fighting alongside Omnipotence and His heavenly host.
