APOKALUPSIS | 001 | The Book of Revelation

Hundreds of years ago, on a rocky island off the coast of Turkey, ink and pen touched on paper as the hand of an old veteran of the gospel wrote down one of the most astonishing narratives of all time - "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John." (Revelation 1:1)
The book is not sealed or secretive for the Greek word "apokalupsis" means disclosure or to reveal. To the earnest seeker of the truth the promise is given, "...seek and ye shall find..." (Luke 11:9) When you come to God with sincerity of heart, desiring to know the truth of His Word, God says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." (Jeremiah 33:3)

God, the Father of Jesus Christ was the originator of this book and "gave it unto Jesus, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John." (Revelation 1:1) The Father made sure that the Title was clear: The Revelation of Jesus Christ. The book, therefore, reveals Jesus to its reader.

At the conception of the Messiah, the angel instructed Joseph in a dream that Mary will bear a son and they shall "...call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21) In fact, Jesus says, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39) The central theme of the Bible is Jesus, God's anointed Son whose purpose is to deliver us from sin.

The Revelation is therefore a narrative of how God will deliver his people from sin and evil. "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." (Amos 3:7) John was the prophet who was tasked with putting God's revelation on ink and paper. A secret revealed is no longer a secret and that's the way God wanted it.

He wants men, women, and children to understand things that are written in the book of Revelation. Join me on a daily journey of exploration as we unlock the secrets of this book.

Until the next post, God bless you.
